GALACIAN 4:21-31
Ang Talinhaga Tungkol kay Hagar at kay Sara
21 Sabihin nga ninyo sa akin, kayong nagnanais mapasailalim ng Kautusan, hindi ba ninyo napapakinggan ang sinasabi sa Kautusan? 22 Sinasabi roon na si Abraham ay nagkaanak ng dalawang lalaki, isa sa alipin at isa sa malaya. 23 Ang anak niya sa alipin ay ipinanganak sa karaniwang paraan, ngunit ang anak niya sa malaya ay katuparan ng pangako ng Diyos. 24 Ito’y isang paghahambing. Ang dalawang babae ay larawan ng dalawang kasunduan, ang isa ay ang tipan sa Bundok ng Sinai na kinakatawan ni Hagar at ng kanyang mga anak, na pawang mga alipin. 25 Si Hagar ay kumakatawan sa Bundok ng Sinai na nasa Arabia, at larawan ng kasalukuyang Jerusalem na nasa pagkaalipin, kasama ng kanyang mga mamamayan. 26 Ngunit ang Jerusalem na nasa langit ay malaya, at siya ang ating ina. 27 Ayon sa nasusulat,
“Magsaya ka, O babaing hindi magkaanak!
Humiyaw ka sa galak, ikaw na hindi pa nakaranas ng hirap sa panganganak!
Sapagkat higit na marami ang anak ng babaing nangungulila
kaysa babaing may asawa.”
28 Mga kapatid, tulad ni Isaac, tayo’y mga anak ayon sa pangako. 29 Kung noong una, ang ipinanganak ayon sa Espiritu ay inuusig ng ipinanganak ayon sa karaniwang paraan, gayundin naman ngayon. 30 Ngunit ganito ang sinasabi ng kasulatan, “Palayasin mo ang babaing alipin at ang kanyang anak, sapagkat ang anak ng alipin ay hindi dapat makibahagi sa mana ng anak ng malaya.”31 Kaya nga, mga kapatid, hindi tayo anak ng alipin kundi ng malaya.

For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman and the other by a free woman. |
scriptum est enim quoniam Abraham duos filios habuit unum de ancilla et unum de libera |

But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh: but he of the free woman was by promise. |
sed qui de ancilla secundum carnem natus est qui autem de libera per repromissionem |

Which things are said by an allegory. For these are the two testaments. The one from Mount Sina, engendering unto bondage, which is Agar. |

For Sina is a mountain in Arabia, which hath affinity to that Jerusalem which now is: and is in bondage with her children. |

But that Jerusalem which is above is free: which is our mother. |

For it is written: Rejoice, thou barren, that bearest not: break forth and cry thou that travailest not: for many are the children of the desolate, more than of her that hath a husband. |

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. |
nos autem fratres secundum Isaac promissionis filii sumus |

But as then he that was born according to the flesh persecuted him that was after the spirit: so also it is now. |

But what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman. |
sed quid dicit scriptura eice ancillam et filium eius non enim heres erit filius ancillae cum filio liberae |

So then, brethren, we are not the children of the bondwoman but of the free: by the freedom wherewith Christ has made us free. |
