WHAT IS THE MEANING OF MESSAIAH?

    Definition:
Messiah is the transliteration of a Hebrew term, Mashiach. The New Testament (Greek) equivalent is Christos. Both terms mean “the anointed one.” The verb mashach, found about 140 times in the Old Testament, means “to smear, anoint, or spread.”

Description. The verb was frequently used for the ceremonial induction into leadership. Three types of leaders were anointed:

    1. Prophets represented God among the people (1 Kings 19:15-16).

    2. Priests represented the people before God through sacrifices and prayers (Ex. 28:40-41).

    3. Kings defended and ruled over the people on Gods behalf
    (1 Sam.16:12-13).

Implications. The anointing meant that someone was authorized to serve God in a position of honor and responsibility. Divine enablement often accompanied the anointing. While many were anointed, only One was given the title of “the Anointed One.”

Try to get the ETYMOLOGY of the word MESSIAH.

“And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. ” (Acts 10:38)

Sagot: 3 WIKA ANG PANGALANG KAKALAT SA MUNDO AYON SA JOHN 19:19-20
YESHUA HA’MASSIACH OR YESHUA HA’NETZARETH IN GREEK IESOUS KHRISTOS IN LATIN IESV CHRISTE.

    JOHN 19:19-20

There’s No “J” in Hebrew, Greek or Latin!

Sagot kay codex kaya nga [[[KING OF KINGS]]]] AND THE LORD OF LORDS maliwanag ang meaning ng MESSIAH AT KHRISTOS AY ANNOINTED KING/SAVIOUR. DAHIL WALA NG TATAAS PA SA HARI. IN TIME OF HARING SAUL, HARING DAVID, AT HARING SOLOMON, MGA HARING ANNOINTED YAN NA BINUHUSAN NG LANGIS PATUNAY NA NASA KANILA ANG ESPIRITU NI YHWH. KAY KRISTO NAMAN WALANG NAGBUHOS NG LANGIS DAHIL LIKAS NA NASA KANYA NA ANG ESPIRITU NG DIYOS. DAHIL AYON SA PROPHECIES SI KRISTO ANG DIYOS NG LUMANG TIPANG “NAGING TAO”.
